Menopause Solutions

Tackle menopause on your terms!
Often times we want to narrow down menopause to a collection of symptoms including hot flashes, mood swings and vaginal dryness, and in doing so, we neglect to identify the true integrated impact on the entire human experience.
Hot flashes and night sweats can lead to poor sleep hygiene which leads to mood swings, depression, poor mental clarity, concentration and memory. Hot flashes and night sweats are linked to 70% increase in cardiovascular disease ( heart attacks and strokes). Menopause is not a collection of symptoms, it is a phase of change that causes a systemic impact and transformation- it, therefore, requires a systemic approach.I want to embolden you to take the first step towards regaining control of your life.
Book a consult to learn a systemic approach towards menopause.

Not to mention that exercise can provide relief from hot flashes and fortify your bone density!Look forward to new fitness options at our new clinic home, in the meantime, check out our collection of virtual fitness offerings through our Artist in Residence, Gigi Tonye.

Black Cohosh: The Hot Flash Mitigator

Black cohosh ( AKA snakeroot, rattleweed) is native to North America and has a lo

ng history of use for musculoskeletal pain and menstrual irregularities. Today, black cohosh is the most widely used botanical for hot flashes and, unlike some botanic supplements, is an herb, not a phytoestrogen. Some studies found black cohosh effective, while others have not. Overall, Black Cohosh is well tolerated for 6 month periods at a time. Many women have found success with black cohosh and red clover combo when incorporated into a healthy diet and exercise regimen.

What Kinds of IV Vitamin Infusions Can You Get?

Lately, you’ve noticed a familiar but unwelcome pattern. You wake feeling sluggish, by midday you have a headache, and at night, you have little or no desire for intimacy. You try to eat healthy, but time doesn’t always allow for smart choices. Despair no more: at Quench Wellness in Chicago, Illinois, we offer a variety of IV vitamin infusions that can restore balance to your body and help you feel better sooner rather than later.

What Are IV Vitamin Infusions?

The easiest answer to this question is a therapy individually researched and optimized to deliver vitamins and minerals into your vein. This approach allows our carefully curated blends to bypass the unstable environment of your gut, and the unpredictable nature of digestion, for delivery to the bloodstream. That means the organs and tissues that most need these nutrients receive them without delay. Additionally, our infusions can support a healthy lifestyle and/or help you bounce back when you don’t feel 100 percent.

IV vitamin treatments can be used to improve skin health, relieve stress, and provide a general sense of well-being. Every day, the body is slammed with toxins that come from food, drinks, and the air. While human systems are designed to eliminate these toxins, it becomes increasingly difficult to do so in the face of stress, caring for homes and family members, and going to work. Overload commonly occurs, producing such symptoms as diarrhea, fatigue, and runny nose. These serve as signs the body needs a little help, and vitamin infusions can provide relief and rejuvenation.

A Look at the Benefits

Celebrities like John Legend and Cindy Crawford aren’t quiet when it comes to their appreciation of IV vitamin infusions. But make no mistake: these therapies aren’t just for Hollywood A-listers. People with the following health conditions commonly see benefits from vitamin infusions:

  • Allergies
  • Muscle spasms
  • Migraines
  • Chronic pain
  • Asthma
  • Chronic fatigue syndrome
  • Angina

It’s impossible to discuss the benefits of IV vitamin treatment without also talking about its efficiency. You already know nutrients enter directly into the bloodstream, but there’s more. This method allows your body to absorb higher levels of minerals and vitamins than if you ingested them from supplements or food. Increased nutrients in the bloodstream mean higher uptake into cells, and that in turn allows the body to fight illness and stay healthy.

Why Choose this Therapy?

The concept of delivering vitamins via IV infusions is not new. In the 1960s, Dr. John Myers developed a blend of vitamins and minerals and administered it to patients suffering from many different conditions. Since that time, supplement repletion has been found to speed recovery, enhance immunity, and improve hydration levels.

Similarly, our blends are part of a growing trend moving away from treating illness and toward preventative care. This means giving your body the nutrients it needs to optimize natural processes. IV vitamin treatments are potent enough that some cosmetic surgeons recommend them to ease patient pain. They are effective enough that some personal trainers incorporate them into their workouts to improve muscle recovery. Finally, they are safe enough that people with certain chronic medical conditions can still receive infusions.

These therapies are delivered in an individualized manner, meaning some patients will need two or three per month while others will need more regularly-scheduled supplements. Together, we can choose the delivery increment that is right for you

Different Kinds of IV Vitamin Therapies

We offer nine distinct IV vitamin infusions. Each is blended with targeted ingredients to revive your body and help relieve a specific ailment. We also offer a la carte options for some blends so you get the exact nutrients you need. For patients who want to host on-site pamper parties, special events, group gatherings, or corporate wellness events, we can help you coordinate with our individual vitamin blends.

Hangover Blend

If you’ve ever had a late night of drinking and talking, you know that sometimes, it’s easy to overindulge. Our Hangover Blend can help reverse the effects of headache, nausea, brain fog, and upset stomach. This restorative cocktail features quantities of B vitamins, amino acids, and electrolytes.

Amino acids help the liver process alcohol more efficiently, while electrolytes help replace the salt and potassium your body loses when drinking. Even better, the Hangover Blend and our complimentary cucumber-infused spring water are a match made in heaven and together will help you feel hydrated and refreshed.

Performance Blend

When preparing for a big event, such as a marathon or other sporting competition, you know the importance of fueling your body with high-quality nutrients. Our Performance Blend can do just that and help with muscle soreness and fatigue, as well as post-workout pain. This combination can also optimize peak performance levels to help you reach your exercise goals.

How does Performance Blend works? It contains vitamins and minerals the body commonly loses during vigorous sport. This allows the body to maximize oxygen usage and minimize muscle fatigue. We recommend pairing this infusion with our organic coconut water, packed with potassium to help rejuvenate tired muscles. Or, you might opt to sip our organic turmeric tea, with its anti-inflammatory properties to recharge the body.

Jetsetter Blend

Don’t let traveling take its toll on a worn, depleted body. The minerals in our Jetsetter Blend can help stimulate blood flow and increase pre-travel energy levels. Or, if returning home, it can fight post-travel lassitude.

This mixture can even boost your immune system to help keep germs and bugs at bay. During your infusion, enjoy a cup of complimentary organic green tea. It’s loaded with caffeine and additional minerals to rev your internal motor and help you face the day ahead.

Boss Blend

Being a boss comes with lots of rewards, like leading the team to a deadline and seeing a project through to completion. But it’s also a position of stress, likely to leave you with poor concentration and low energy levels. Our Boss Blend can help you feel better than ever, with a powerful punch of antioxidants and cell-building ingredients. Take a break and revel in renewed vigor, especially when you choose to pair this therapy with a soothing cup of green tea.

Oasis Blend

Water is the source of life, but tell this to your tired body as you run from meeting to errand, put supper on the table, walk the dog, and help your kids with homework. Sometimes, getting the water you need is nearly impossible. Our Oasis Blend is here to help.

A full liter of saline can balance your body’s pH levels and help relieve symptoms like dry mouth, headache, fatigue, and dry skin; after, you’ll feel as serene as if you just returned from vacation. Complimentary additions can help relieve specific maladies, such as Pepcid for an upset stomach.

Immunity Blend

Feeling sluggish or experiencing repeated bouts of illness can be signs of immune system depletion. For this, we recommend our Immunity Blend, an elixir that can balance the effects of stress, poor nutrition, and sleep loss.

The hefty dose of vitamin C and zinc will kick your immune system into high gear and have you feeling better in no time. Other minerals contained within can help prevent illness and/or stop troubling symptoms like runny nose and congestion. For added wellness, sip our accompanying lemon tea.

Beauty Blend

We’ve long been told our skin is the body’s biggest organ. It only stands to reason that skincare requires the same diligence as caring for the heart or brain. But this can be a little tricky, especially in the throes of a harsh winter or sun-soaked summer.

Luckily, our Beauty Blend is chock-full of vitamins, enzymes, and amino acids to battle against dry, dull skin and/or blemishes. It’s also helpful for nails and hair, making it a truly well-rounded serum. Sipping on our green tea will deliver antioxidants and improve circulation so you look and feel more beautiful than ever.

Headache Blend

Little in this world can bring you down like the pain of a headache. Whether you suffer from migraines or tension headaches, we have an IV vitamin treatment for you. It’s our Headache Blend, infused with a calming combination of vitamins and minerals designed to ease stress and pain. To compliment your therapy, enjoy a quiet cup of caffeinated, organic white tea.

Mini Oasis Blend

If you’re too busy for a full vitamin infusion, which generally takes between 30 and 45 minutes, we suggest scheduling our Mini Oasis Blend. It offers the same rejuvenating benefits as our full Oasis, but in less time to get you out the door and onto your next appointment. This quick pick-me-up is ideal if you’re on your way to work, need to get the kids, or simply want to enjoy some “me” time.

Slim & Trim Infusion

Shedding extra belly fat or toning your figure can be tough, even if you work out regularly. Our Slim & Trim Infusion features a proprietary blend of ingredients that can:

  • Burn stubborn fat stores
  • Improve circulation
  • Help control blood sugar
  • Detoxify the body
  • Boost metabolism
  • Increase energy
  • Combat Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)
  • Help balance female hormones

Keto Flu Blend

Keto flu refers to a series of symptoms that arise as the body transitions to the high-fat, low-carb regimen of the ketogenic diet. Such symptoms can include nausea, fatigue, and headaches – much like a real gastrointestinal bug. Our Keto Flu Blend helps combat these unwanted maladies, restore energy, and promote hydration. The end result is the aid you need to stick to your weight loss goals.

Just C

Vitamin C is known to lower blood pressure, reduce the risk of heart disease, and aid the body’s natural defenses. Of course, this list is not all-inclusive, but it helps show you the many benefits this power-horse vitamin gives. Our Just C therapy delivers a simple boost of vitamin C without the added ingredients of Immunity Blend.

Boost Your Intimacy

Women once believed that having a rewarding career and a loving family meant sacrificing romance. But our exhilarating blend can refuel your body with important vitamins, minerals, and fluids. The result is increased blood flow to improve your feelings of pleasure – and stimulate desire. Men might also experience enhanced sperm quality so that the family you long for might be just around the corner.

Get Your First infusion

IV vitamin infusions offer a variety of benefits that can be slightly tweaked to accommodate personal preferences. Whether you need a dose of energy or want to up the stakes in your workout results, we have a blend that is sure to help. Call Quench Wellness in Chicago, Illinois, today to schedule your appointment. We also accept walk-ins and look forward to being a part of your healthy living regimen.

What Are the Signs You May Need Hormone Optimization?

For both men and women, hormones act as essential communicators between cells in our bodies and are responsible for regulating many of our bodies’ functional systems. However, as we age, our hormones begin to change or become imbalanced. Many people explore hormone optimization as a potential solution. Quench Wellness in Chicago, IL is committed to offering the best hormone replacement therapy options for both men and women.

Hormone Optimization: What You Need to Know

Understanding Hormones

Hormones guide our bodies through many important functions, such as growth, metabolism, and reproduction. They are produced by glands that make up the endocrine system, and they are constantly sharing information with organs that tell them how to behave, when to activate, and how to expend energy (and for how long). If we didn’t have hormones, we wouldn’t know when to eat or sleep, or when to stop.

Many things can affect or inhibit hormone production, including age, health conditions, and chemical interference. While regular shifts in hormones throughout the day and during various physiological cycles, persistent and irregular imbalances can present health problems. Too little or too much of any hormone can wreak havoc on the body and create unpleasant side effects.

The Endocrine System

The organs that produce hormones and make up the endocrine system include the reproductive organs (testes and ovaries), pituitary gland, pineal gland, thyroid gland, hypothalamus, parathyroid, thymus, pancreas, and adrenal gland. These glands produce different hormones for different targets and send these hormones into the bloodstream to reach their intended destinations. Disruptions in the endocrine system can alter the amount of hormone reaching the bloodstream or being delivered to the cells and organs that require them.

Sometimes chemicals in our environment can also affect the function of the endocrine system. Aptly named, these endocrine disrupters are linked to adverse effects in hormone production and other functional systems. Unfortunately, these chemicals are difficult to avoid – they are found in everyday products such as plastic bottles, cosmetics, toys, and detergents.

Why Hormone Changes Occur

Hormone changes can occur for several reasons. The endocrine system generally declines in functionality as part of the aging process. Even if hormone levels stay the same, the receptors for those hormones become less sensitive as we get older. However, most of the time, the issue is with a decrease in the levels of hormones as we age.

Health conditions can also affect hormone production. Diabetes is one of the most common endocrine disorders. In this disorder, the pancreas does not produce the right amount of insulin. Conditions that cause poor circulation can also impair endocrine function, as hormones rely on a healthy blood supply to reach their targeted locations in the body.

Women and Hormones

Women have a unique set of hormones for navigating life changes such as menstruation, pregnancy and birth, and menopause. The latter receives a good bit of attention because the symptoms can be frustrating, and at times, even dangerous. During menopause, the ovaries slow their production of estrogen and progesterone, which has a number of side effects.

As these hormones decline, the pituitary gland tries to overcompensate. It produces an excess of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). To navigate this cycle, many women choose to explore hormone replacement therapy (HRT) to ease their way into menopause. At this time in a woman’s life, it is more important than ever to be living a healthy lifestyle and listening to the body’s needs.

Men and Hormones

While the term “male menopause” gets thrown around quite a bit, this isn’t exactly an appropriate description of the hormonal changes men experience as they age. Only some men experience what is called andropause, which is a decline in testosterone production. Men who are concerned about their testosterone levels can have our doctors order a test to measure production.

Symptoms

For women experiencing hormonal imbalances, symptoms will vary. However, the most commonly reported symptoms include hot flashes, insomnia, fatigue, and even depression. Osteoporosis is a complication of the hormonal changes during menopause, so it is important to have regular screenings during this time.

Commonly experienced symptoms for men include a decrease in muscle mass, loss of cognitive function, erectile dysfunction, low libido, and loss of energy. Similarly to women, supportive self-care is important, as depression and fatigue are side effects of testosterone loss. Also as for women, osteoporosis is a risk for men at this time, so bone density screenings are important.

What Is Hormone Optimization?

The goal of hormone optimization is to assess whether hormone levels in the body are below their optimal threshold and, if so, to treat this by developing a plan to improve hormone function. If your body is simply not producing the hormones as it should, HRT could be an option. This treatment can either supplement under-produced hormones or replace them altogether.

Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) is a form of HRT that uses hormones that are chemically identical to the ones naturally produced by our bodies. While traditional HRT uses synthetic or animal-derived hormones, BHRT uses only those that are plant-derived. BHRT has been shown to improve well-being in several areas, but especially in restoring balance to the endocrine system.

How Are Hormone Deficiencies Diagnosed?

If you are experiencing symptoms, our doctors will schedule a physical exam and consultation with you. We will ask you about the duration and severity of your symptoms and begin to suggest possible diagnostic tests. Most hormones can be detected with blood tests, and this is likely where we will want to begin.

Forms of Hormone Replacement Therapy

There are several ways to receive HRT. Tablets are the most common and are typically taken once a day. Other common methods include skin patches and gels. However, Quench Wellness specializes in bioidentical hormone replacement pellet therapy for both men and women.

Pellet therapy is an efficient method because it allows for consistency in dosage as opposed to creams or gels. The pellet is inserted subcutaneously just under the skin, where it provides a constant flow of hormones to the body. The process is quick, simple, and painless with the use of a local anesthetic.

Signs Hormone Optimization Therapy May Be Right for You

Mood Changes

Many of us are quick to dismiss irritability or mood changes as normal responses to our busy schedules and daily frustrations, and this may be true in many cases. However, if you find yourself experiencing severe ups and downs, debilitating anxiety, or lengthy depressive episodes, you should speak with our doctors about your options. Hormone replacement therapy may be one way to ease these symptoms.

Physical Changes

Hormone imbalances may cause unexplained weight loss or weight gain, low libido, and changes in bowel or bladder habits. Our doctors will ask questions to discern how long you have been experiencing the symptoms and what helps alleviate them. By narrowing down which hormones may be causing specific problems, we can develop a treatment plan tailored to your hormone needs.

Increased Risk of Bone Loss

As we age, our bone density decreases. If you are particularly at risk for falls or fractures, HRT may be a good choice for you. Also, the spine is at risk of degeneration as we get older, so protecting the vertebrae and discs in between them becomes increasingly important.

Fatigue

There is a big difference between being tired and being constantly fatigued. Being tired may result from a poor night’s sleep, a stressful day, or being mentally drained at work. Being fatigued is a feeling of being unusually exhausted day after day. If you are fighting to stay awake before the evening hours, it might be a good idea to discuss this with our doctors.

Failure of Alternative Treatments

If you have tried alternative methods to improve hormone balance and they have not worked, hormone replacement may be the key to a sustainable solution. On average, many patients find that their symptoms lessen or go away completely within one to two weeks of beginning treatment. Don’t wait to have a conversation with our experts about the potential benefits HRT can have for you.

Benefits of Hormone Optimization

Reduction of Symptoms

Hormone replacement therapy has been studied for nearly a century. Anecdotal and empirical data have shown that patients report more manageable symptoms quickly after treatment begins. Thus, the most obvious benefit to HRT is the relief it provides from the discomfort of side effects from hormone loss. By restoring balance to the endocrine system, the body functions more optimally and is relieved of challenging symptoms.

Restored Quality of Life

Many men and women find that the increase in energy they feel after beginning treatment inspires them to resume activities they had abandoned when they were suffering from the side effects of hormone loss. Regaining enjoyment from hobbies and work often has a domino effect. People receiving HRT often find that they have new motivation to live a healthier and more active lifestyle.

Supporting Healthy Hormones

Risk factors for hormone imbalances include smoking, being overweight, drinking too much alcohol, and having poor sleeping habits. Even with HRT, it is helpful to reduce these risk factors to support a healthy environment for balancing hormones. By making lifestyle changes and being watchful of stressors, you can take control of many factors affecting hormone imbalance.

Be Mindful

The benefits of stress reduction have been shown over and over again to reduce the effects of many physical ailments. The mind-body connection has been proven to activate the parasympathetic nervous system, which in turn reduces cortisol levels in the body. Cortisol can be a damaging hormone, so by introducing calming practices such as yoga and meditation into your lifestyle, you are one step closer to a more balanced endocrine system.

Get Exercise

It seems obvious that exercise will improve the body’s functional systems, but it may not be as obvious that physical activity actually releases a hormone called endorphins into the bloodstream. Endorphins are secreted by the pituitary gland and are responsible for reducing pain and supporting a more effective stress response. These hormones increase feelings of well-being and reduce feelings of stress and depression.

Watch Eating Habits

The ghrelin hormone is what signals to your body that you have eaten enough and are full. However, if you do not consume the right kinds and amounts of protein, this hormone may not activate. In turn, the body’s response may be to over-eat or to eat at inappropriate times. Similarly, avoiding eating too many foods that create inflammation in the body (like simple carbohydrates) will create a more hospitable environment for maintaining a healthy hormone balance.

Get Relief Today

If you are ready to take the next step in managing your hormones, call our experts at Quench Wellness in Chicago, IL for a consultation. We take great pride in offering cutting edge hormone replacement therapy, and we would love to answer your questions. Often, a simple conversation is all it takes to determine whether hormone optimization is right for you.

What Are the Benefits of IV Hydration?

Intravenous (IV) hydration is a safe and fast way to provide your body with the nutrition it needs. While previous IV treatments focused on helping people suffering from dehydration and eating difficulties, medical and wellness researchers have discovered new ways to use IV therapy. Because IV hydration bypasses the digestive system, it is an effective way to deliver medications, vitamins, and other nutrients directly into the bloodstream. This unique quality allows healthcare providers and wellness centers, such as Quench Wellness in Chicago, IL, to use IV hydration to restore your general health and wellbeing.

Why IV Hydration?

More Efficient

Previously, drinking fluids was considered the best solution to dehydration. However, researchers later found that when people drink water after a workout session, most of it is absorbed by the tissues in the throat and those along the digestive tract. To hydrate all the other tissues in your body after a gym session, you have to drink a lot of water. IV therapy hydrates your body more efficiently by delivering fluids directly into your bloodstream, where they travel to parts that need them most.

More Than Just Fluids

When you push your body to the limit, you lose more than just fluids. Therefore, drinking a lot of water is not always enough. To stay in top form, you also need to replenish your electrolytes and other nutrients. As we have mentioned above, drinking water is not an effective way of delivering nutrients where they are urgently needed. Neither does it replenish lost electrolytes and nutrients. IV hydration, on the other hand, refreshes and replenishes your body with nutrients instantly, leaving you hydrated and revitalized.

Easier on Your Digestive System

Excessive intake of fluids is not always kind to your digestive system. Your body has a limit for the volume of fluids it can absorb at one time. When you drink more fluids than your body can process, your digestive system strains to get rid of the excess volume. During this process, your digestive system can also flush out some essential nutrients. Additionally, people who drink fluids with supplements often complain of irritation in their digestive tract. Since IV therapy does not rely on the digestive system to deliver nutrients and fluids to your body, it creates less waste, allowing you to retain most of the nutrients.

Reduced Recovery Time

Hydration is an important part of the recovery process. It offers relief from muscle soreness and stiffness after an intense workout session. Hydration can restore your energy levels after a tiring, long day at the office. It can also help you sober up faster. Additionally, it can help you recover from a hangover in no time after a night of overindulgence. A cocktail of vitamins, nutrients, and fluids that an IV therapy delivers will leave you feeling great and back on your feet in a flash.

Customized to Your Body

Our bodies are not the same. A one-size-fits-all approach is not always practical because we have different needs depending on our physical activity levels, general health, and lifestyle. To stay at peak form, you need to provide your body with precisely what it needs. What works for others might not work for you. Since IV hydration is completely customized to your body, it provides you with the perfect mix of vitamins, nutrients, and electrolytes, allowing you to live a fulfilling life.

Health Benefits of IV Hydration

Since the digestive system metabolizes supplements that are consumed orally, it reduces the amount of nutrients, vitamins, and medication that reach the bloodstream. Besides speeding up the effectiveness of treatment, IV therapy ensures 100% absorption for optimal use and minimal waste. Because IV therapy delivers medications and vitamins directly to the cells that need them, it can improve and impact a wide variety of body functions. Here are several health benefits of IV therapy:

Improved Wellness

Many people think wellness is just about their health. However, wellness is a general cover term for several factors that contribute to your overall wellbeing, including all aspects of your life, from your emotions to your environment. By providing your body with the tools it needs to stay in peak form, IV therapy improves not only your physical wellness, but also some aspects of your emotional wellness. It can help you fight some mental conditions, such as anxiety and depression. The ideal balance of vitamins and nutrients provided by IV therapy leaves you feeling better, and improves your immunity and mental clarity.

IV Therapy For Overall Wellbeing

To function properly, your body needs a certain amount of vitamins and nutrients. While the amount of vitamins and nutrients required for normal function varies from one person to the next, a busy routine or an unconventional lifestyle can prevent you from meeting your daily intake requirements. Taking multivitamins does not help much either because some of the nutrients are lost during the metabolic process. Additionally, people with impaired absorption find it challenging to convert nutrients into usable energy for cells effectively. IV therapy provides your body with the vitamins and nutrients it needs to:

  • Boost energy levels
  • Improve immune health
  • Fight anxiety
  • Improve symptoms of depression
  • Combat fatigue
  • Improve mental clarity and cognitive function
  • Improve symptoms of asthma
  • Reduce the symptoms of migraines
  • Maintain the strength of muscles and tissues
  • Accelerate wound healing
  • Fight allergies

Improved Athletic Performance

Athletes push their bodies to the limit in search of excellence. To maintain peak performance and to compete at the highest level, the body requires a constant supply of vitamins and nutrients. Besides putting a strain on the muscles, intensive training and workouts also cause a gradual buildup of free radicals. IV therapy can help the bodies of athletes flush out free radicals, heal faster, hydrate adequately and quickly, and maintain muscle and tissues.

Since IV therapy for athletes also delivers amino acids, the building blocks of proteins, it promotes muscle development and plays a vital role in the recovery process. It is important to note that IV therapy is ideal for both professional and amateur athletes. You can use the powerful combination of essential nutrients and rehydration to keep your body fit for an intense training session or a competition. IV therapy can improve athletic performance by:

  • Providing fast and adequate hydration
  • Maintaining healthy muscle and tissue
  • Reducing recovery time
  • Supporting muscle recovery
  • Acting as part of a recovery plan after a competition or workout
  • Acting as a pre-exercise endurance boost
  • Flushing out free radicals that result from intense exercise

Can Help With Addiction Recovery

Whether it’s a problem with alcohol, tobacco, opioids, or illicit drugs, addiction kills thousands of Americans each year. Around 21 million Americans struggle with at least one addiction. Besides the massive cost of human life, addiction has other far-reaching consequences, including social and economic ones. Substance abuse disorder is closely linked to depression and anxiety, for example.

According to the National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA), the United States loses $740 billion each year fighting drug-related crimes, on healthcare costs, and loss of work productivity. Although many people with a substance abuse disorder recognize the negative effect it has on their lives, quitting is not easy. To help those in an addiction recovery program, researchers turned to NAD IV treatments. NAD IV treatments can help those in the recovery process by:

  • Reducing symptoms of withdrawal
  • Repairing neurotransmitters in your brain which are damaged by addiction
  • Restoring metabolic function and improve energy levels
  • Detoxifying your body from the free radicals produced by long-term drug use
  • Restoring cognitive function and clarity

Support Healthy Weight Loss

Three in every four Americans are overweight or obese. The two leading causes of death in the United States are heart disease and cancer, respectively. Both conditions have been closely linked to unhealthy weight. While a healthy diet and regular exercise are often suggested as the best options to help people get rid of unhealthy weight, data shows that these strategies alone do not deliver the desired results to most people. Fortunately, IV hydration can support your weight loss efforts.

Through a unique formula of fluids, vitamins, and lipotropics (fat-burning compounds), our IV hydration can boost your body’s ability to break down fat and burn calories. When incorporated in a comprehensive weight loss program that includes a healthy diet and regular exercise, IV therapy has proven to be an effective tool against unhealthy weight.

Accentuated Beauty

Through a unique combination of vitamins, nutrients, and antioxidants, IV therapy can improve the strength and health of your hair, skin, and nails. This unique formula detoxifies your body and rejuvenates your appearance from the inside, leaving you feeling and looking like the younger version of yourself. Unlike oral supplements and topical creams, IV treatments release antioxidants into your bloodstream to target and flash out free radicals. Free radicals contribute to aging and tissue damage.

Additional ingredients, such as glutathione and biotin found in the IV therapy repair UV damage, remove toxins from your body, and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. IV therapy can also:

  • Slow the aging process
  • Brighten the skin
  • Improve blemishes

Fast Hangover Relief

Since alcohol is a diuretic, it can leave you dehydrated, especially after a night of overindulgence. When you consume large amounts of alcohol, tissues in your head and other parts of the body shrink. This shrinkage causes headaches and muscle aches. Additionally, your liver produces toxins that can cause discomfort in several parts of the body. When you overindulge and fail to replenish the fluids and nutrients, you can experience the unpleasant symptoms of a hangover. These include:

  • Headaches
  • Nausea, vomiting
  • Stomach pain
  • Increased heart rate
  • Sensitivity to light and sound
  • Changes in mood
  • Fatigue
  • Dizziness
  • Muscle aches

Fast Relief

A severe hangover can last up to 24 hours. Hangovers are often hard on the body, giving you a sickly feeling. But you should not regret having a good time. An IV treatment for hangover contains vitamins, anti-nausea medication and anti-inflammatory medication, electrolytes, and a saline solution. This formula not only replenishes the electrolytes and nutrients but also rehydrates and detoxifies your body. It is so effective you can get relief within an hour of treatment.

Because of the promising potential shown by IV hydration, health and wellness experts are working hard to realize the full potential of IV therapies. In the future, we expect IV treatments to play an even more prominent role in healthcare.

Comprehensive Weight Loss: Is It Right for You?

Weight loss is never a simple journey, but the good news is that it’s also not something you have to do on your own. Others have walked this path before and are waiting to help! At Quench Wellness in Chicago, IL, we use a comprehensive weight loss program to help people shed pounds while becoming healthier and happier along the way. Is this type of weight loss program for you?

Is Comprehensive Weight Loss Right for You?

You’re Sick of Things That Don’t Work

You don’t have to attempt weight loss for very long before you realize there’s a lot of bad information out there. Everyone who has ever lost a pound seems to think of themselves as an expert and shares their tips. Some of these tips might work. Some definitely don’t, and some only work for certain people or under certain circumstances.

Where are you going to find scientific information applied uniquely to you and your physiology that can actually provide the answers you need? A comprehensive weight loss program with our expert health coaches can get you answers for your concerns.

You Don’t Enjoy Feeling Tired

A lot of traditional weight loss methods consider just two things: calories in and calories out. The goal seems pretty simple. You just eat a lot less and exercise a lot more. The problem is this rarely works.

When you’re just trying to cut calories without understanding the nutritional support you need, you end up exhausted and frustrated. In the best-case scenario, you lose some weight at the expense of happiness and vitality. In the worst case, the pounds never go because you’re so exhausted you keep breaking the diet.

If all your dieting attempts leave you feeling listless and exhausted, or if you end up binging every few days just to get the energy you need to get through life, our weight loss program can help. Our program isn’t just about dropping pounds but about supporting overall wellness and nutrition so you have the vitality and energy you need.

You Don’t Want to Go It Alone

Nearly all of us have been there: trying to diet when no one else is. When you announce you’re on a diet, friends and family can be very supportive at the outset, but that support can seem to disappear at mealtimes when everyone else is enjoying things you’re trying to deny yourself.

When everyone else is turning to food to manage their stress or reward themselves after a hard day, it can be tough to stay the course. You don’t have to go through this journey alone. We all deserve and need support for something as important (and dramatic) as weight loss, and that’s what you get with a comprehensive weight loss program.

We understand that weight loss isn’t a straight path and that you’ll take some turns along the way. But through coaching, help with meal planning, nutritional support, and the help of a community, you can see success.

You’re Ready to Realign Your Lifestyle

Lots of us have dieted successfully only to see the weight come back. It can be a frustrating cycle of denial followed by returning to old habits (and often feeling a lot of guilt along the way). At Quench Wellness, we believe the only way to see real success is to change your lifestyle.

When you remove one habit, whether it’s rewarding yourself with a pastry after a hard day or spending time in front of a screen instead of out in the sun, that habit should be replaced with another, healthier one rather than simply become a hole in your life! We can help you make the right substitutions for a whole new lifestyle that gives you freedom, mobility, hope, and better health.

You’re Facing Health Concerns

If you need to lose weight but also have some health conditions to manage, it all becomes just that much more difficult. Now you have to plan your exercise and diet around specific needs and restrictions. Whether you’re trying to work around food allergies, diabetes, vitamin deficiencies, an autoimmune disorder, or any other concern, it can be a struggle to make a diet “plan” fit around your needs.

You hear other people talking about all the success they’ve had with Slim Fast, but it messes too much with your blood sugar. You’d like to do a Keto diet, but you’ve had your gall bladder out and worry about the fat load. Other friends swear by a vegetarian diet, but you consistently bump up against vitamin B deficiency.

Instead of trying to fit yourself into a diet plan, why not do it the other way around? When you work with us, we can help you design your plan around you and your needs instead of constantly trying to push a round peg into a square hole. When you find the combination of foods and nutritional support that works for you, you can finally see the success you deserve.

You Haven’t Found Exercise You Love

The right exercise plan, like the right dietary choices, is an individual thing. If you hate running, then trying to run five miles a day with your friend isn’t going to help you in the long run. It’s a chore, and when life stress hits, the first things to go are the things we hate. To develop lifelong, healthy habits you need to find the right way for you to stay active.

There’s no one type of exercise that’s perfect for everyone, and we can help you explore options you might not even have thought of. For you, the right way to stay active could be stair-stepping with friends at the gym, trail running under the trees with the sunrise at your back, or kayaking with a partner on Lake Michigan. There’s something out there for everyone!

What Is Comprehensive Weight Loss?

Our program is all about changing your lifestyle and thus your life. When your life is transformed, you will lose the weight, but you’ll also gain some things that are even more important, like greater confidence and freedom, more mobility, hope, and better health.

To get you there, we bring a combination of personal experience with weight loss journeys, training, expertise in nutrition, health coaching, and medical expertise from board-certified physicians with a passion for enhancing overall wellness.

We understand that weight loss is always personal, so your journey will be designed uniquely for you and your needs. Along the way, we can offer a variety of customizable tools to help you reach your goals.

Health Coaching

Your health coach will meet with you one-on-one and help you uncover opportunities for improving your physical, emotional, and mental state. Together, you’ll investigate all aspects of wellness that could be interfering with your health and vitality and design solutions that work for you. These might include nutritional changes, hormone balancing, stress management strategies, and weight loss.

Your health coach can help you repair your adrenal health, improve your digestion and repair your gut, overhaul your diet and nutrition to address autoimmune disorders or inflammation, or help you get the bio-identical hormone intervention you need to restore balance.

Personal Training

We offer many boutique class resources where you can get the help you need to stay safely active. As part of your overall weight loss program, exercise is essential, but it’s equally essential that you find the types of exercise that work for you.

Your personal trainer can help you find the right ways to get moving, stay safe as you exercise more, and keep track of your goals so you can see how much progress you’re making!

Community Support

We have a strong community of people who have been through weight loss and understand the journey. They can testify to how a comprehensive change in lifestyle can completely transform a life. Success is so much easier when we do life together, and you’ll derive motivation and support from our community that will help you at every step along the way.

Nutrient Fueling

Nutrition deficiencies could be holding you back from enjoying the energy and wellness you need to fuel your weight loss journey. There’s no better way to address nutrient needs than with IV infusions. We offer IV infusions of key nutrients in blends that can help you maintain an active lifestyle, feel satisfied and alert, recover from illness, or hang on through the “keto flu.”

Why an IV?

Bioavailability is always a concern with any nutrient. Bioavailability simply refers to how well the body can absorb a nutrient, and it’s a bigger issue than you might think. Consider spinach as an example. We’ve all heard that spinach has a lot of iron, but what you might not know is that it’s not very bioavailable to us.

It’s a poorer quality iron than is found in meat, for one thing, and our body struggles to make good use of it. There are also compounds in spinach that actually block iron absorption in the digestive system. Whenever you eat food or take a vitamin pill, you can never be completely sure how much of any nutrient will actually make it into your bloodstream and be used.

If you’re suffering from Crohn’s, celiac disease, or have IBS, the problem is even worse. But with IV infusions, 100% of the nutrients make it straight into your bloodstream, where they get to work instantly fueling your life.

Choices

We have infusions that can help with any issue you’re facing. Our performance blend, for instance, replaces the nutrients typically lost in a workout so you have fewer cramps and less muscle fatigue and post-workout soreness. Our Boss Blend is perfect for those who are feeling low energy at work and having trouble concentrating or sleeping.

For those with dry skin, constipation, headaches, and general fatigue, the Oasis Blend offers general nutritional support and effective hydration to get you back on your feet. If you’re fighting an illness or need to strengthen your immune system in general, our Immunity Blend includes powerhouse nutrients like vitamin C and zinc to boost your system.

Fat Burning Shots

We can also offer shots of vitamin B that can jumpstart your metabolism and give you the energy you need to burn fat while enhancing immune and liver function at the same time. Lipotropic B12 increases energy and helps your body release fat deposits from the neck, thighs, hip, stomach, and more. Best of all, you can repeat the shot every 72 hours and get the support you need to keep going on your wellness journey.

Feel Your Best With IV Hydration

IV hydration is one of the newest and most effective ways to get a big boost of vitamins, minerals, and supplements into your system quickly and effectively. The experts at Quench Wellness in Chicago, Illinois are skilled in concocting and administering quality IVs that will enhance your health in one simple dose. If you haven’t experienced the wonderful world of intravenous hydration for yourself, you are truly missing out.

What Is IV Hydration?

Intravenous hydration is a method of nourishing the body by pumping fluids and necessary vitamins directly into the bloodstream. This process enables your body to take advantage of the contents of the IV immediately and is easily the most rapid, most effective way of getting your body what it needs.

Benefits

IV hydration is becoming more and more popular because there are plenty of benefits associated with the treatment. These are just some of the ways that it is superior to other methods of medication or treatment:

Immediate Hydration

Staying properly hydrated is one of the most important things that we can do for our bodies, and IVs deliver a powerful dose of hydration that can immediately revive us. It’s far more effective than simply drinking a glass of water because the bloodstream immediately disperses the hydration to the organs that need it, cutting out the stomach and gastrointestinal tract “middleman.”

Customizable IVs

Quench Wellness’s team has developed some excellent, targeted IVs that address common concerns. One of the best parts about this technology is the ability to laser-focus on our customer’s needs and use their feedback to make IVs that work.

Overall Wellness

Keeping your body at the apex health has ripple effects throughout the rest of your life. Many of our clients find that they are more focused, optimistic, and ready to take on challenges when their bodies are full of valuable minerals and vitamins and fully hydrated. A healthy body has also been linked to reduced stress and enhanced wellbeing.

Key Ingredients

Quench Wellness focuses on only the best and most effective ingredients for our IV hydration shots, and while we can’t give away all of our secrets, we can certainly share some of the superstar elements that we include in our most popular blends.

Alpha Lipoic Acid

All of us produce this incredible ingredient naturally, but we can always use more of it since humans are only capable of making minute amounts at a time. Alpha Lipoic Acid is one of the most phenomenal resources that our bodies have, and injecting ourselves with more can keep us running smoothly and might even fight off aging.

Essentially, Alpha Lipoic Acid is an immune system booster that helps ward off inflammation, keep nerves working to their best ability, and keeps our blood sugar levels low. It’s an amazing tool that helps us jump-start our health and recover after an illness.

Get a generous dose of Alpha Lipoic Acid in our Alpha Lipoic Acid Immune Boost shot: one of the most popular offerings at Quench Wellness.

Biotin

Biotin is known as the beauty vitamin, so this particular ingredient is the star of one of our most popular shots. Biotin works wonders on your nails, skin, and hair. Take Biotin regularly and you will find that your nails are stronger and less likely to peel, your skin is radiant, and your hair is glossy and free from split ends. As an added benefit, biotin can also help charge up your metabolism and keep you healthy and beautiful from the inside out by managing blood sugar.

Get your beauty dose of Biotin with our Biotin Hair & Nails Boost. Many people start to see the positive effects right away and make this particular treatment an important part of their beauty routine.

Glutathione

This particular ingredient is a powerhouse when it comes to anti-aging abilities, and many people who are yearning to tap into the fountain of youth will find what they are looking for in Glutathione.

Glutathione works by targeting free radicals and quickly healing your skin so that it looks polished, clear, and light-years younger. It’s nature’s ultimate clean-up-crew, eliminating waste rapidly and giving you the complexion that you have always dreamed of.

Quench Wellness puts the power of Glutathione into our Glutathione Detox Boost: a comprehensive shot that works wonder on your skin. It can also be combined with other shots for an even more impactful mixture.

Glycine

Glycine works by giving you more energy and helping with concentration and mood. Many of our customers adore this ingredient because it amps up their productivity and allows them to feel like they get more done in a single day. If you need a boost to take you to the next level, look no further than Glycine.

Quench Wellness’s signature Glycine Concentration Boost shot is a potent mixture of this vital ingredient, which helps you focus on what’s important and can even give you a better night of sleep and shield your heart from damage. It’s one of the most popular shots that we offer, and there is a simple reason why: it works wonders!

B12

B12 is one of those fantastic vitamins that offers up a whole incredible host of different benefits. That’s why it’s included in several IV hydration shots offered by Quench Wellness.

The benefits of B12 are hard to overstate, so we will just let our blends speak for themselves. We think that you will agree that these are results-driven applications that are designed to target specific functions that will help you live your best life and help your body work as optimally as possible.

Lipotropic B12 Fat Metabolism Boost

B12 can enhance your metabolism, allowing you to burn fat more efficiently and leading to a slimmer, more toned figure. Our Lipotropic B12 Metabolism Boost shot helps your body work at its optimal level as well as boosting your immune system and helping your liver process toxins more quickly.

Many of our customers get this shot to help them kick-start their weight loss journey or to remove some stubborn belly fat before the summer. It’s a natural and effective tool that begins to work immediately.

Vitamin B12 Energy Boost

B12 not only supercharges your metabolism, but it can also pump up your energy levels and give you smoother, softer skin. This wonder vitamin has been linked to better memory, enhanced mood, and dewy, clear skin.

Quench Wellness’s Vitamin B12 Energy Boost shot can immediately make you feel better, more productive, and ready to take on the world. It is also versatile enough to use with other shots.

Taurine

Taurine targets liver function and helps this exceptionally important organ do the best job that it can. Over time, we all put our livers through wear and tear, and a boost of Taurine can wash away some of the damage and leave us with a cleaner slate. One of the biggest things that it does is to eliminate fatty buildup around the organ, allowing it to function at a more optimal level.

Taurine has also been linked to bile salts, which the liver produces to break down cholesterol. These bile salts can keep us healthier by reducing the amount of cholesterol that we have in our bodies at any given time. It’s the key ingredient in our Taurine Liver Function Boost shot, which is a favorite treatment that can really go a long way to keeping you in the best health possible.

Vitamin C

You can get your Vitamin C in a number of different ways, and many people opt for chewable tablets, fortified foods, or just plain fruit and vegetables. While all of these are great options, there’s nothing that quite compares to getting a large dose of Vitamin C straight into your bloodstream, which is exactly what our Vitamin C Immune Booster shot offers.

Vitamin C is vital for proper immune system functionality, as it famously helps to repair damaged tissues and keeps our bodies working as well as possible. Those who are serious about their health know that getting your Vitamin C from a variety of sources is one of the best ways to stay healthy and happy.

Vitamin D

While you can certainly get a lot of Vitamin D courtesy of the sun, you can also get your fill as a booster shot from Quench Wellness. Vitamin D Booster shots are essential treatments for anyone who has to deal with lots of ice and snow, as you are most likely deficient in this ingredient. Vitamin D is necessary for good bone development and can even help your skin look more radiant.

Get a touch of sun with this IV hydration shot from Quench Wellness and keep your sunny disposition even in the darkest days of winter.

Zofran

Zofran is an anti-nausea drug that can help calm down an upset stomach and prevent vomiting. Our Zofran Boost shot delivers this powerful concoction straight into your bloodstream, helping you feel better right away.

These are just a few of the offerings you can find at Quench Wellness. There are plenty of other treatments available, and we can customize treatment to suit individual needs. IV hydration shots are easily the most effective ways to deliver necessary ingredients right into your body, and they are catching on all over the country. What Can You Expect from a Weight Loss Program?

You understand the basic mechanics of weight loss: you need to consume less fuel than your body burns. You try to eat less. You try to move more. But there are days you can’t force yourself to exercise. There are days you can’t force yourself to put down the spoon. You need professional help. At Quench Wellness in Chicago, IL, we believe passionately in helping our clients live life to the fullest. Today, we reveal what you can expect from a weight loss program to help you determine if it is right for you.

10 Things to Expect From a Weight Loss Program

1. One-on-One Health Coaching

Weight loss isn’t about seeing the number on the scale go down. It is about building better life habits by switching one habit for a sustainable, healthy habit. Changing habits one at a time will take time. However, this type of change is sustainable. It lays the foundation for a completely new way of life.

At Quench Wellness in Chicago, IL, we work with you one-on-one to learn about your food triggers, current eating habits and more. With this information, along with what you enjoy eating, we will educate you on health and help you identify a diet you can stick to and enjoy.

2. Community Support

It takes a village to raise a child. Sometimes, it takes a community for one person to lose weight. At Quench Wellness in Chicago, IL, we offer you an entire support system. Whether you need help making the right decision about what’s for dinner or you need some encouragement to go on your first run, we are here for you.

We know weight loss isn’t easy, and we don’t believe you should go through the journey alone. Support is critical for success. We provide the network you need to achieve lifelong success.

3. Keto Flu Relief Infusions

For many people, a low-carb diet is the best way to lose weight. Some people find a “paleo” diet more sustainable. Others find a “keto” diet more sustainable. Regardless, people who reduce their carbohydrate intake significantly enough may develop what is known as “keto flu”. Keto flu refers to a “condition” characterized by suffering from flu-like systems. This occurs as your body switches from burning glycogen for fuel to stored fat.

Our proprietary keto flu blend can banish symptoms of keto flu, including dehydration, muscle cramps, low energy, mental fog and headache. While you’re not suffering through the transition period, you can stick to your new diet, exercise efficiently and enjoy your new life.

4. Personal Training and Boutique Classes

No matter where you are in your fitness journey, expert help can take your workout routine and fitness level to the next level. Dr. Chantale will sit down with you to learn about your workout preferences, aesthetic goals, limitations and experience with exercise. Whether you haven’t exercised since P.E. in high school or you were the president of your university’s triathlon club, we will design a customized workout plan you can stick to and enjoy.

We also offer boutique classes to get you active in fun, sustainable ways. For example, we offer Zumba in the South Loop. Classes are $10 each and begin at 10 AM every Sunday.

5. Slim and Trim Vitamin Infusions

Besides infusions for keto flu relief, we also offer the Slim & Trim infusion. Whether you are looking to tone your figure or burn that last stubborn bit of fat from your stomach, this infusion can help you achieve your aesthetic and wellness goals. Our proprietary blend of vitamins and nutrients boosts your metabolism and elevates energy levels thanks to the essential B vitamins. This blend also helps your fat cells release pesky excess adipose tissue.

The Slim & Trim infusion also supports adequate circulatory flow, blood sugar regulation and healthy lymphatic system function to detoxify your body. This infusion is the perfect complement to regular exercise, a healthy diet and the lipotropic B12 fat metabolism boost. This infusion can also ease symptoms related to female hormone imbalance and combat seasonal affective disorder. You may also benefit from adding a glycine boost to enhance your focus and further support healthy blood sugar levels.

6. Nutrient Fuelings

When you crave fried chicken or a greasy hamburger, your body is usually low on iron. Such cravings can be quelled by eating alternative high-iron foods, such as black beans or spinach. When you’re craving a salty snack, like pretzels or popcorn, there’s an excellent chance that your body is low on sodium. You may also be dehydrated. To quell such cravings, you only need to hydrate your body. When eaten in moderation, cheese is an excellent high-sodium alternative.

7. Lean B Fat Burning Shots

There are eight essential B vitamins. These vitamins are necessary for the adequate function of several systems, including your musculoskeletal system, cardiovascular system, pulmonary system and nervous system. If your body doesn’t have adequate levels of B vitamins, you may notice several symptoms, including weight gain, inability to focus, memory loss and lethargy.

Lipotropic B12 Fat Metabolism Boost

We proudly offer a lipotropic B12 fat metabolism boost. This is administered via intramuscular, or IM, injection. This fat-burning shot revs your metabolism for 72 hours. Other benefits include a propensity to burn fat for fuel, improved immune and liver function and increased energy. In other words, your body will choose to burn more fat for fuel than carbs. Moreover, thanks to the revved metabolism, your body will burn more calories over the following 72 hours than it would have without the booster.

However, because your energy is also boosted, you may find that you exercise just a little harder. Any additional exercise you perform in the three days after treatment will only compound the benefits of the booster. If you have stubborn pockets of fat attached to your hips, inner thighs, buttocks, neck or stomach, you may find regular injections with this booster can help you perfect your aesthetic.

8. Comprehensive Health Screening

Sometimes, weight gain is caused by imbalanced hormone levels or another medical condition. Before you begin your final weight loss journey with Quench Wellness in Chicago, IL, you will undergo a comprehensive health screening. This allows us to identify any undiagnosed underlying medical conditions. This will tell us if you need to follow a particular diet or your workout plan needs an extra special tweak.

If there’s a chance your weight gain was triggered by a medical condition, we may be able to treat the root cause of your weight gain. For example, if you gained weight due to hormone imbalance, we offer bioidentical hormone replacement therapy. Your hormone levels may be imbalanced if you experience one or more of the following symptoms:

  • Unexplained abdominal weight gain
  • Lethargy
  • Disinterest in sex
  • Cognitive impairment
  • Memory loss
  • Irritability
  • Insomnia
  • Hot flashes
  • Excessive nighttime urination
  • Muscle loss
  • Hair loss

9. Challenges

Are you a Type A individual struggling to lose weight? If you are, a medically supervised weight loss program may be just what the doctor ordered. On your weight loss journey, you will experience periods where you maintain weight for weeks at a time before your body decides to release the fat. This is known as the “woosh” effect and can drive people to quit before they see the weight come off.

We hate to see people give up, especially when they are so close to hard-earned success. We know that challenges often push people to do greater things than they thought they were capable of doing. That’s why we offer our clients fitness challenges, so they can see their improvements even if the scale doesn’t move one week. If you hate agility, strength, speed or endurance exercises, you may find a challenge is just what you need to shift your mindset and improve your quality of life.

10. Results

The results derived from participating in a medical weight loss program will vary from person to person. However, if you follow your program honestly, you can expect to lose between three and five pounds in your first week. A lot of this will be water weight. But you can easily expect to lose one to two pounds of bona fide fat after your first week.

Health Benefits

If your general physician recommended weight loss for you, he probably didn’t care about the number on the scale. Doctors often use your BMI (body mass index) to identify your degree of risk of developing dangerous medical conditions. These medical conditions include type 2 diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, stroke and joint pain.

After a month of sticking to a medical weight loss plan, you will find that your friends and family notice improvements in your body image. After two to three months, you will start to see these changes yourself. These changes mean you are losing fat, building muscle or both. This is excellent for your health. Over time, you can also reverse type 2 diabetes, alleviate hip and knee pain, lower your blood pressure and bring your bad cholesterol down to a healthy level.

Frequently Asked Questions About Weight Loss

Can I Cut and Bulk at the Same Time?

One of the most common weight-loss misconceptions we hear is that you can’t burn fat and build muscle simultaneously. People who believe this are correct in their understanding that you have to eat at a caloric deficit to lose weight.

What they weren’t adequately taught in school is that only two things need to be true to build muscle. First, you must push the targeted muscle past its breaking point so it can rebuild stronger. Second, your muscles need protein. With the right nutritional plan, it is absolutely possible to eat at a caloric deficit for fat loss while consuming enough protein to grow muscles.

Can I Lose 30 Pounds in Just 30 Days?

It seems that every summer there is a new magazine promoting a new diet promising you can lose 10 pounds in 10 days. This just isn’t realistic. There are 3500 calories in a pound of fat. Your body can only use 35.1 calories per pound of fat daily for fuel. If you have 30 pounds of excess body fat, your total fat mass is probably around 50 pounds.

You have more than enough stored fat for your body to consume for fuel to pull off a 30-pound fat loss in 30 days. However, you probably only burn between 1,200 and 2,000 calories per day. To achieve a pound of weight loss daily, even if you didn’t eat, you would need to exercise long enough to burn between 1,500 and 2,300 extra calories on top of your daily life activities. Even if you had time for this, your body couldn’t sustain it for 30 consecutive days.

Re-Energize Yourself With a Vitamin B12 Injection

Can a powerful dose of vitamins really transform the way you feel? You may be surprised to learn that a vitamin B12 injection from Quench Wellness in Chicago, Illinois not only gives you energy but also helps your body maintain optimum efficiency.

What Is Vitamin B12?

You could consider Vitamin B12 the “Superman” (or woman!) of vitamins. This water-soluble vitamin is vital for many important bodily functions, including the formation of red blood cells, DNA synthesis, and nerve regeneration. For this reason, it’s been used to help enhance athletic performance, fight fatigue, and provide additional energy to get through hectic schedules.

This vitamin exists in several forms, and because it contains a bit of a mineral called cobalt, the compounds within vitamin B12 are often referred to as cobalamins. All of the B vitamins play an important role in your body’s metabolism and health, but vitamin B12 plays a particularly prominent part.

The B vitamins, and particularly vitamin B12, play a vital role in how your body produces what it needs for energy. If you’re deficient in vitamin B12, an injection will definitely give your energy level a boost. In fact, one of the first signs of vitamin B12 deficiency is fatigue.

What Is a Vitamin B12 Injection?

This is a dose of vitamin B12 administered through intramuscular injection, and it’s designed to give a healthy dose of energy, as well. An injection is an efficient way for vitamin B12 to be delivered into the system.

Vitamin B12 injections offer several benefits including:

  • Enhanced metabolic functions
  • Enzyme production
  • DNA synthesis
  • Nerve regeneration
  • Hormonal balance
  • Mood improvement
  • Skin pigment balance
  • Youthful skin
  • Increased energy

Your body can’t store vitamin B12, so a vitamin B12 injection can be repeated once a week, and it’s important to have repeat injections to ensure your body is functioning at its optimum level and receiving the vitamin B12 it needs to remain focused and healthy.

Great for Hair, Skin and Nails

Because Vitamin B12 has a unique role in the production and regeneration of cells, this means that it’s important to have healthy levels of this vitamin to have healthy skin, hair and nails.

If you do have a vitamin B12 deficiency, it will show up in different dermatological areas. These include:

  • Discolored nails
  • Changes in hair
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Patchy loss of skin color (vitiligo)
  • Angular stomatitis (cracked corners of the mouth)

Treatment with vitamin B12 has been shown to help alleviate these conditions.

How Much Vitamin B12 Do You Need?

Your body doesn’t make vitamin B12, so you’ll need to get it from supplements on a regular basis. Remember that your body is not able to store vitamin B12 for long periods of time.

How much you need will actually vary on many things, such as your age, your nutrition, your medical condition and any medications that you may be taking. In general, the normal range for vitamin B12 is around 200 to 900 picograms per milliliter (pg/ml). Anything less than 200 pg/ml is generally considered to be a deficiency.

General recommendations are for 2.4 micrograms (mcg) a day, although those who are elderly or breastfeeding women may need more. Teens and adults should have 2.4 mcg of vitamin D, and the National Institute of Health recommends that pregnant women should have 2.6 mcg and breastfeeding women 2.8mcg. There’s no recommended upper limit for B12, so “overdosing” is not a concern. Many times, a vitamin injection will deliver doses of the vitamin in a more efficient way than taking supplements or pills.

Who Is at Risk for Vitamin B12 Deficiency?

If you’re not sure if you’re getting enough of this powerful nutrient, you should consider getting a blood test to see what your body’s levels are. This will help you determine the benefits of a vitamin B12 injection.

Did you know that as you age, it’s more difficult for your body to absorb and process this vitamin? If you’ve had bariatric (weight loss) surgery or if you heavily use alcohol, you may also have difficulty absorbing this vitamin. If you have any of the following conditions, you should be aware that it’s more likely that you could develop a vitamin B12 deficiency:

Atrophic gastritis

This is a condition where the lining of your stomach has thinned.

Intestinal Conditions

Any medical condition that affects your large or small intestines can have an effect on how your body absorbs vitamin B12 and how much of it you’ll need to have to replenish it.

These intestinal conditions include:

  • Crohn’s disease
  • Celiac disease
  • Bacterial growth
  • A parasite

Disorders of the Immune System

These can include conditions such as lupus or Graves’ disease.

Certain Medications

There are certain medications that can inhibit your body’s ability to process vitamin B12. These medicines include certain heartburn medications, proton pump inhibitors, diabetes medications (such as Metaformin), and H2 blockers.

Vegan Diets and Vitamin B12

There are many who have embraced the vegan diet. However because vitamin B12 is primarily found in animal products such as milk, cheese, and eggs, vegans are at higher risk of having a vitamin B12 deficiency. If you are a vegan, you may wish to consider getting one of these injections to ensure that your body is operating at its optimum level.

What Are the Signs of a Vitamin B12 Deficiency?

The main concern over a vitamin B12 deficiency is that it can lead to anemia, a condition where there are fewer healthy red blood cells. While mild deficiencies may not cause any symptoms, if the problem is not corrected it can lead to:

  • Fatigue and weakness
  • Pale skin
  • Gastrointestinal problems such as constipation, gas, or diarrhea
  • Heart palpitations
  • Muscle weakness
  • Tingling feeling in the muscles
  • Mental health issues such as depression or behavioral changes

How Does the Body Absorb Vitamin B12?

The body has to absorb Vitamin B12 in two steps. First, in the stomach, acid separates the B12 from the food. Then, it combines with a protein created in the stomach and is absorbed by the body. This is why some of those who have had weight loss surgery or surgery to remove part of the stomach have difficulty absorbing the vitamin B12 they need from foods.

Additional Benefits of Vitamin B12

Extensive research has gone into exploring the various conditions that vitamin B12 can help with to assist your body in becoming healthier. While scientists are still exploring all the possibilities, there are some other interesting aspects to Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 May Help Prevent Birth Defects

Certain studies have shown that vitamin B12 levels can help women have a healthy pregnancy by helping the fetus’s brain and nervous system during development.

Some also believe that having an adequate amount of vitamin B12 can help decrease the chances of premature birth or miscarriage.

Vitamin B12 May Help Prevent Osteoporosis

Because of its restorative nature, healthy B12 level can support bone health. Studies have shown a link between low vitamin B12 levels and osteoporosis.

Osteoporosis is a disease that causes bones to become brittle and easily break, and postmenopausal women are at particularly higher risk of the disease.

Macular Degeneration

This is a serious disease that can severely damage your vision and it is one of the major causes of vision loss in the United States. Maintaining recommended levels of vitamin B12 can possibly prevent age-related macular degeneration. How?

Homocysteine is a type of amino acid that populates your bloodstream, and vitamin B12 lowers this level. High homocysteine levels are associated with increased risk of age-related macular degeneration.

Vitamin B12 Can Help Battle Depression

Vitamin B12 can do much more than merely improve your mood: it can play a major part in metabolizing serotonin. Serotonin is the chemical in your body that is important to help regulate mood and emotions.

In certain studies, vitamin B12 has been found to improve the symptoms for those who are struggling with depression. Other studies showed that those who had both antidepressants and vitamin B12 were more likely to demonstrate an improvement in their symptoms.

Higher vitamin B12 levels are also linked to better outcomes and recovery for those who are struggling with major depressive disorder. If someone already has a vitamin B12 deficiency, then utilizing a vitamin B12 injection can help lift their mood.

Vitamin B12 Is Great for Your Brain Health

We’ve already mentioned how vitamin B12 can lift mood and aid those battling depression. But it can also prevent the loss of neurons that are important for brain function. This means that it may help reduce the risk of developing dementia or memory loss.

Research has shown that those with low levels of vitamin B12 tend to have poorer memories, so restoring those levels to normal can help cognitive function.

Vitamin B12 May Help Your Heart

You may have never heard of homocysteine, but this amino acid has been shown to have a link to an elevated risk of developing heart disease. Heart disease is currently the leading cause of death of Americans.

Those who have a good, healthy level of vitamin B12 have fewer of the amino acid homocysteine. This could result in a decreased risk of heart disease. However, it’s important to note that there is still not enough solid evidence to give 100% certainty that taking vitamin B12 will reduce your risk of heart disease; but many researchers do believe there is some kind of link between vitamin B12 and heart health.

Interesting Facts

Vitamin B12 is a vitamin that has tremendous benefits for our body, and you might find the following facts interesting:

Vitamin B12 Isn’t Found in a Lot of Natural Foods

Dairy products, fish, eggs, meat and chicken have rich amounts of vitamin B12, but even that might not be enough to give the body the complete amount of vitamin B12 needed.

Your Body Can’t Store Vitamin B12 for Extended Time

Even if you eat all the right foods that are rich in B12, that doesn’t mean your body will be able to retain the vitamin. Your body isn’t able to store the vitamin for long periods of time. In addition, age plays an important factor. As we age, the body’s natural absorbency rate decreases, making it even more difficult to hold on to this important vitamin.

Ready to Get an Energy-Boosting Injection?

The extensive benefits of vitamin B12 can’t be denied. It impacts every aspect of your health, from boosting your metabolism to giving you energy to reducing your risk for developing certain diseases. Because your body can’t effectively store B12, it’s important to get an injection on a regular basis. You can get the boost of energy you need through vitamin B12 injections. Discover the Advantages of Bioidentical Hormone Therapy

Age, illness, and stress can create a destructive hormonal imbalance in the body that impacts your health, happiness, and ability to connect with others. These imbalances are so sneaky that you may not even know that you have one. Quench Wellness in Chicago, IL is your local source for all things hormonal. We offer world-class testing and bioidentical hormone therapy to restore harmony in your life.

What Are Hormones and Why Do They Matter?

We don’t see them, but hormones are always acting behind the scenes to make your body function. Over 200 of these molecular chemicals flow through the body to deliver messages to the organs. Telling your lungs to breathe, heart to beat, and your stomach to eat are among the many instructions these chemical messengers give.

Because hormones have such an essential role in the body, an imbalance can throw your life into a frenzy in unexpected ways. Hormone imbalances aren’t always straightforward and can look like other conditions. Getting tested and treated for a hormone imbalance is the best way to regain your health, vitality, and wellbeing.

What Is Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT)?

Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy is a revolutionary approach to identifying and treating male and female hormonal imbalances. This method uses plant-based hormones that have a structure identical to those produced in the body. Many people refer to this hormone replacement therapy as “natural hormone therapy.”

Hormonal changes can wreak havoc on your body, mind, and spirit. Sometimes these changes are so subtle that they sneak up on you. Some individuals suffering from the adverse effects of a hormone imbalance initially explain them away as situational disturbances instead of acknowledging them as the biological changes they are.

Restore Your Life

Taking action to discover the cause of your discomfort is crucial anytime you are facing unwanted changes in your physical or mental health. At Quench Wellness, we use precision methods to recognize any hormone imbalances or deficiencies in the body. After identification, we supplement or replace them with this advanced therapy.

The goal of bioidentical hormone therapy is to restore your hormones to correct levels. Restoring your hormone levels improves every area of your life. You can enjoy changes physically, mentally, emotionally, romantically, and socially.

Only the Best for Our Patients

We use only the highest quality bioidentical hormones found in a therapeutic pellet form. The body can’t tell the difference between the bioidentical hormones we use and those it produces naturally. You benefit from this in several ways.

What Causes Hormone Imbalances in Men and Women?

You deserve to live your best life. Steady hormone levels are paramount for living well. Hormone imbalances can create effects ranging from mildly annoying to devastating. No matter where you fall on the discomfort spectrum, you owe it to yourself to seek treatment. Our goal is to help you feel like yourself again.

Some common causes of hormonal imbalances include:

  • Cushing’s disease
  • Diabetes and insulin resistance
  • Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)
  • Perimenopause
  • Menopause
  • Menstruation
  • Stress
  • Thyroid disorders

How Can I Tell If I Have a Hormonal Imbalance?

Men and women can experience unpleasant changes in their bodies resulting from shifting hormones, and each of the hormones presents different symptoms. General symptoms of a hormone imbalance are those that anyone can experience; however, there are also some symptoms specific to each sex.

General Symptoms of Hormone Imbalance

Women and men experience general symptoms from a hormonal imbalance. When adrenaline, insulin, and growth hormones shift, they can create unpleasant symptoms in anyone. When these types of hormones aren’t stable, you might experience:

  • Changes in body temperature
  • Disturbed sleep cycles
  • Fatigue
  • Higher heart rate
  • Increased stress levels
  • Impaired sexual functioning
  • Issues with reproduction
  • Fluctuating mood
  • Low sex drive
  • Pain, stiffness, or muscle weakness
  • Weight gain

Women’s Hormone Imbalance Symptoms

Most women expect hormonal changes to happen throughout life because they’ve experienced hormone shifts every month since puberty. Changes also occur during pregnancy, breastfeeding, perimenopause, menopause, early menopause. A triggering condition like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), or primary ovarian insufficiency (POI) can also usher in unwanted hormonal shifts. Some forms of birth control may also trigger hormonal imbalances in women.

Estrogen and progesterone are usually at the root of female-only hormonal deficiencies. Symptoms specific to women are:

  • Brain fog
  • Breast changes
  • Breast tenderness
  • Clitoral enlargement
  • Hair loss
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Heavy periods
  • Hot flashes
  • Night sweats
  • Vaginal atrophy
  • Vaginal dryness

Men’s Hormone Imbalance Symptoms

Men aren’t exempt from experiencing hormonal imbalances. Testosterone is often to blame when symptoms manifest. Common male symptoms of an imbalance include:

  • Breast enlargement
  • Body hair loss
  • Body mass reduction
  • Erectile dysfunction (ED)
  • Sperm count lowers

Do I Need to See a Doctor About My Hormonal Imbalance?

Hormones have a delicate balance that only a doctor can test and oversee. Because there are hundreds of hormones in the body, it’s impossible to know what’s causing your symptoms without medical testing.

If you have symptoms of an imbalance, it’s easy to think you can handle the issue on your own, but this isn’t a good idea. Many other conditions mimic the symptoms of a hormonal imbalance, and we must rule out all other conditions before treatment.

It’s important to meet with your doctor for comprehensive testing to ease symptoms and bring your body back into balance. Once we establish your diagnosis, we provide precision treatment options like HRT with BioTE to restore your health and wellbeing.

Advantages of Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy

BHRT is helping millions of patients all over the world to restore harmony and balance in the body. The advantages of bioidentical hormone therapy are the number one reason they choose this treatment. Below we look at some of the many benefits of using BHRT to treat hormone imbalances.

You’re Never Alone

You are not alone with BHRT. Changes can feel scary, but our friendly and professional team is with you every step of the way. We get to know you and your body to find the best ways to help. When you take the first step toward us, we’ll take ten steps toward you. Our patients are our top priority, and we do everything we can to provide superior care.

More Natural Approach

BHRT mimics your body’s hormones. One of the most significant reasons this therapy is the preferred choice is that it’s more natural than alternative hormone replacement therapies. BHRT hormones are synthesized from plants, and the body embraces them. This treatment is even suitable for individuals sensitive to other hormonal therapies.

Accurate Test Results

You always know where you stand. Hormones used in other therapies don’t always provide correct testing results because they don’t blend into the body very well. Using BHRT means that when you treat your hormone imbalance, you can accurately track how well the therapy is working.

Low Maintenance

This isn’t a daily hassle. With bioidentical hormone therapy, you don’t have to remember to take pills or take time out of your day for treatment. After we administer therapy, women are good to go for three months, and men won’t need to return for up to five months.

Manage Hot Flashes

Hot flashes don’t have to interrupt your life. Hot flashes are never pleasant, and you never know when they might strike. You may feel fine one moment and the next you’re in a sauna. This inconvenient symptom can make work, sleep, and social engagements unbearable. BHRT reduces hot flashes so you can get back to living.

Stabilize Mood

BHRT can make mood swings a thing of the past. It’s well known that hormonal mood swings can negatively impact relationships; they can also take a toll on your self-esteem. No matter which area of your life takes the biggest hit from oscillating moods, BHRT can help.

Clearer Thoughts

Regain your focus. Hormones could be at play if you are battling brain fog, absent-mindedness, or memory issues. Don’t reach for caffeine. Instead, book a consultation with us to find the underlying cause of these changes. If a hormone imbalance is affecting your thinking, BHRT can bring you back up to speed.

More Energy

Seize the day. BHRT is here if you are tired of feeling tired. Fatigue is a common complaint shared by individuals experiencing hormonal imbalances. You may feel fine in the morning but dread the midday decline. When these plant-based hormones boost hormone levels, you’ll have more energy during the day, all day.

Prevent Hair Loss

Save your mane. Thinning and falling hair is a common sign that hormones aren’t balanced. Individuals who don’t know that BHRT can help might chalk hair loss up to genetics or the natural process of aging. Choosing this therapy could help you keep your hair.

Deter Digestive Disturbances

Heal your gut with BHRT. Although they may not seem connected, hormones dictate your digestive tract, and shifting hormones can trigger IBS. Managing GI-related hormones with BHRT can prevent painful symptoms from developing.

Prevent Bone Loss

Keep your bones strong with BHRT. Bone loss and osteoporosis are linked to hormone deficiencies directly. We need our bones to carry our weight and get us to where we need to go. Caring for your bones with BHRT now can prevent breaks and fractures later.

Better Sleep

Sleep like a baby. If your sleep isn’t as relaxing as it once was, it could be a sign that you have imbalanced hormones. Sleep loss isn’t just a nighttime concern. The body heals itself when we sleep and feeling tired during the day can impact your relationships, job, and safety. Choosing BHRT can bring your body back to its normal, sleepy self at night to maximize your overall health and wellbeing.

Enhance Pleasure

BHRT combats sexual dysfunction. Hormones play a vital role in sexual health. If sexual hormones are out of whack, your romantic life can suffer. Men experience ED while women struggle with vaginal atrophy and dryness; both can feel less motivated to engage in sex at all. Treating the underlying hormonal cause of these conditions can reinvigorate your sexual desire for a long-term pleasure enhancement.

How Long Will It Take for Bioidentical Hormone Therapy to Work?

BHRT isn’t a quick fix but a long-term solution. You’ll notice changes as early as three weeks after your appointment. The optimal benefits of treatment can take three months to appear. Although the changes aren’t immediate, once activated, you’ll enjoy relief for a long time.

Am I a Candidate?

Anybody who thinks they may have a hormonal deficiency or hormonal imbalance could be a candidate for bioidentical hormone therapy. Your treatment begins with thorough testing. We investigate your hormone levels to learn what’s causing your symptoms. Patients with severe symptoms are especially good candidates for this therapy. Those suffering from disturbed sleep, night sweats, headaches, or other debilitating symptoms benefit most from this hormone treatment.

Scheduling a consultation with us is the best way to find out if you are a candidate for BHRT. We need to meet with you in person to get to know you and understand what you’re experiencing.
